Meet Maxine - she's hiding somewhere behind those ears! Maxine is a 40 pound, 8 year old, female Basset Hound who is learning how to trust humans. She's spayed, up to date on shots, and is ready to find her ideal forever home. Maxine is a hound's hound. She lived outside 24/7 in her previous life and had minimal to no interaction with people. Thus, she's very leery of humans and is slowly learning how to love. She likes being in the yard with family and enjoys the fresh air wafting by her houndy nose. Maxine thoroughly enjoys lying on the couch with her human siblings (ages 3 and 5). She does ok with her canine foster sibling, a senior Golden Retriever, but would probably prefer to have her human family all to herself. Maxine is working on basic training, learning the ways of living inside a house with people, and house training. She's coming along nicely in all of these areas, but will appreciate it if her forever family continues to reinforce these basic concepts with her until she's fully comfortable with the ropes. Slow and steady is the name of the game for Maxine's training. She needs to take baby steps with people so that she doesn't startle. Maxine's favorite toy is her bunny - she snuggles with it and uses it like a pillow! So adorable. If you'd like to meet this stately hound lady and believe you have the patience to kindly teach her how to trust, please apply today. In the meantime, Maxine will be on the couch.

Maxine's adoption fee is $150.
