Meet Miss Pickles!

Some may say the perfect puppy doesn’t exist, but they haven’t met this sweet girl. She's a typical puppy and loves to play with everyone -- life is so much fun through the eyes of a happy puppy! Pickles loves dogs of all sizes and would love to play with cats, but the cats don’t feel the same, unfortunately for her.  Chew toys are a staple in Pickles life right now -- she still has all her baby teeth and will be teething for some time.

Pickles is super smart; i n the short time that she has been with the rescue, Pickles has learned sit, down, and shake. And she's mastered crate training and house training. She even taught herself how to use the doggy door to get in and out on her own.

We first met Pickles when she was six weeks old when she lived in a local homeless encampment. We vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed and chipped her for her human, only to find she'd been given away to someone who gave her away, to someone who gave her away to someone else. (!!!). Six weeks after, we  got a call from our local shelter that  she was turned in by a Good Samaritan. They suspected she was deaf and found her  running in traffic on a very busy street. Needless to say, this time, she was staying with us.

Both our vet and her foster confirmed she's totally deaf. But it doesn't slow her down a bit -- she's learns just as quickly as other puppies do.  Pickles catches on to hand signals very quickly and is extremely food motivated. While Pickles thrives with short daily training sessions and mental stimulation, she also has a great little “off” switch. She knows to lie on her blanket and wait patiently while her foster mom is preparing meals or otherwise busy. Being so young, Pickles will need someone who is willing to continue her training and understands that puppies need consistency to succeed and retain what they have been taught. Do you think your family would be the right fit for this sweet, flashy little girl? Please fill out an application and let us know if you have any questions.
