Brie is aptly named: she's sweet in nature and creamy in color, just like the cheese! This gorgeous Siamese mix (maybe some Ragdoll in there?) was trapped as a stray, believe it or not. One of our volunteers had seen her wandering all by herself and set a trap for her; it worked! It seems she found us just in time, as Brie had a huge bulging area that was badly bruised. We took her to the vet and discovered that she has a hernia. The vet told us the heartbreaking conclusion that this tiny kitten's hernia was due to trauma and not a congenital defect. We don't know what happened to Brie, whether she was kicked or had a severe fall, but we know one thing: we're going to give her a wonderful future! She's in a loving foster home awaiting her hernia repair surgery (scheduled for 10/27), where she'll remain throughout her recovery until adoption.
Brie, despite her almost certain discomfort, is a wonderfully loving girl. She head butts for pets and ear rubs every chance she gets. Brie is pretty mellow all things considered; she lives with other dogs and cats in her foster home and while she's fine with them, she would definitely prefer being an only cat. She seems to like dogs more than cats - she's pretty fearful of the other cats (both adults and kittens) in her foster home, but she spends lots of time snuggled on top of the resident (St. Francis alumnus) Yorkshire Terrier's head! So perhaps someone who is looking for a companion for their small dog, but who doesn't quite have the time for a second dog might be the sort of home she's looking for. We think also a quiet home with no children is best for this wallflower. She's just so stunning with that gorgeous brown face mask and her long lanky body - we know she'll grow up to be a lover and a looker! We are so glad Brie landed in our care...stay tuned to hear how she does post-hernia repair and get your adoption applications ready!
